Working Barn Fire - 1035 Jamisons Corner Road

Monday afternoon, June 16th at 13:32hrs, Stations 1&27, Engine and Tanker 4&24, Tanker 29, Engine and Tanker 26 and Station 15 for the ladder were dispatched to a working barn fire at the Emerson Farm. Shortly after dispatch, additional companies were added to the response to assist. Units arrived to find a 200' by 300' barn fully involved with exposure problems on each side, including a fuel tank. Initial crews were able to contain the fire to the building of origin. Due to the area being non-hydrant protected, additional tanker companies were requested to the scene for water supply. No livestock were lost during the fire. Additional companies responding to the alarm were Stations 7,8,9&10 and Stations 3,6&12 from New Castle County, Station 44, Station 45, and Ambulance 64 from Kent County, DE; Station 1 and Stations 2&12 from Cecil County, MD; Station 2 and Station 3 from Kent County, MD; NCC Medic 5 and DNREC. Multiple New Castle County departments provided cover up assignments for the MOT area companies. Crews were on scene for 6 hours extunguishing hot spots and overhaul.
