Tower 27 Placed In Service - Middletown, Delaware

				The Volunteer Hose Company has placed in service a 2008 Pierce 95’ mid-mount aerial platform, built on an Arrow XT chassis with TAC-4 suspension.  The apparatus can accommodate a crew of 6 firefighters, and is powered by a Detroit Diesel series 60 engine rated at 515hp, coupled with a Allison Gen IV electronic transmission.  The wheelbase of the vehicle is 270”.
The radio designation will be Tower 27.
The apparatus has a 300-gallon water tank, along with a 1500gpm Hale single stage centrifugal pump.  There are two pre-connected 1 ¾” cross lays at 200’ each and one pre-connected 2 ½” cross lay at 200’.  The unit also has multiple discharges along the drivers and officers side.  The aerial is supplied by a 5” piped waterway to accommodate 2 Akron monitors, 2 – 2 ½” hose connections and a under platform shower system.  The overall jack-span for the stabilizers is 18’for the front, and 16' for the rear.
A Harrison 10kW hydraulic generator supplies electrical power to the unit, which has multiple power locations along each side of the apparatus.  Two – 150’ cord reels are installed under the turntable as well on each side of the apparatus.
Tower 27 carries a variety of truck company equipment along with a compliment of rope and accessories for high angle rescue.
