Wednesday evening, December 30th at 20:26hrs, Stations 1&27, Station 26 for a engine and rescue and Stations 4&24 for an engine were dispatched for a house fire at 217 Green Giant Road. The initial report was smoke in the residence. Chief Bailey, along with Engine 27-5 and Rescue 26 arrived and had a visible smoke condition within the residence. Crews began investigating for the source. Tower 27 arrived moments after and the crew noticed the siding along the D side of the residence was beginning to become discolored. A small amount of fire poked through the exterior wall where the chimney was located. Crews opened the wall and extinguished the fire, and found minimal extension to the upper floors of the home. Firefighters from Volunteer Hose Company, Townsend and Odessa Fire Companies worked the scene for about an hour.
