Structure Fire with Smoke Showing - Congressional Village

Thursday, September 3, 2015
Monday April 12th at 02:45hrs, Stations 1&27, engine and rescue 4&24 and engine 26 were alerted for a reported structure fire at 1820 Congressional Village Drive. As the initial fire department units were responding, the call was upgraded to a working alarm, adding Station 29 for the RIT assignment, Station 44 for an additional engine and ladder and Station 15 for a BLS unit. NCC Medic 2A and ALS-23 were also added. Chief Bailey arrived on scene moments later with smoke showing. Following Chief Bailey was Engine 27-5, whose crew stretched an 1 3/4" line into the residence located on the first floor. The fire was located on the rear porch, and was contained by the buildings sprinkler system. The crews from Tower 27 and Rescue 27 checked the upper levels for extension and additional occupants of the building. Due to the small amount of damage, the response was reduced to the initial companies. The sprinkler system within the building prevented extensive damage to the units above the fire floor, and damage was kept to a minimum due to the actual location of the fire. The Delaware State Fire Marshals office is investigating the fire.
