Thursday, September 3, 2015
Friday morning at 00:43hrs, the Volunteer Hose Company, Odessa for a Rescue & Engine, Townsend for a Tanker & Engine, Delaware City for a Ladder, Port Penn for the RIT assignment, NCC Medic 5A & ALS 23 were alerted for a working house fire in the area of the above address. NCC Police were onscene and confirming a fire on the second floor of the residence. Engine 1-6 was first to arrive under command of career FF John Pace with fire and smoke showing. The crew dropped a 5" supply line from the mid-point of the lane due to an extremely long lay. Rescue 27 and Tower 27 arrived as the engine was laying in to the scene. Crews from the initial arriving apparatus advanced two 1 3/4" lines to the second floor of the residence and began placing ground ladders. Assistant Chief Mullen had command of the incident. As mutual aid companies arrived, water supply was established at the end of the lane. Additional tankers were requested due to being in a non-hydrant area, bringing additional units from Odessa and Port Penn. Crews worked for over two hours completing extinguishment, ventillation and overhaul. Local fire stations were covered by Smyrna, Clayton, Wilmington Manor and Five Points. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
