A fire at a local mulching center kept crews from several area departments busy for over 7 hours Saturday night into Sunday morning. The Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown received the alarm at 22:00hrs and had crews on scene until 05:00hrs Sunday morning. The Volunteer Hose Company was assisted by Odessa, Port Penn, Townsend, Delaware City, Wilmington Manor, Cecilton MD and Citizens Hose of Smyrna. The Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder of Newark and Galena Fire Department provided cover-up crews during the incident.
