Wednesday afternoon at 15:04hrs., the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown was alerted for a ladder and rescue to assist Townsend on a working barn fire. Tower 27, Rescue 27, Engine 27 and Engine 1 responded on the assist. As units were setting up operations, a second working alarm was dispatched in Middletown. Engine 1 and Engine 27 re-directed to the alarm in Middletown's first due. Tower 27 was taken out of service and redirected to the alarm in Middletown also. Rescue 27 remained on scene assisting Townsend firefighters with the alarm.
