Working Townhouse Fire - Villas of Augusta

Friday evening at 19:03hrs., the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, Port Penn, Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna and Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder of Newark fire companies were alerted to a working residential fire on Sarazan Drive in the Villas of Augusta neighborhood. Volunteer Hose Company BLS unit A-27 arrived minutes after dispatch with Career Firefighter Jones with smoke showing from the three story unit. After a quick walk around of the structure, it was communicated to officer on Rescue 27 that there was heavy fire conditions on the C side of the residence. Crews from all responding departments worked for several hours to extinguish the fire, which heavily damaged the structure of origin and the two attached units as well. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. Chief Bailey had command.
