Saturday August 18th, the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown hosted another successful open house at the headquarters station. Each year, the fire department holds our annual open house in conjunction with the Middletown Historical Societies Peach Festival, which is held the third Saturday of every August. An estimated 30,000 people were in town for the event, and many stopped by to see the many displays on hand, gather some fire prevention materials, tour the station and talk to the firefighters who were there. Throughout the day, the department had 4 staffed ambulances and a staffed engine crew on hand for the day, answering EMS emergencies within our district. Apparatus from area fire departments were also on display. We would like to thank the Odessa, Townsend, Delaware City and Cecilton Fire Companies for attending. We would also like to thank Chesapeake Utilities for their display, along with the Delaware State Fire School and Emergency Service Corp for their assistance and displayes as well.
